Setup Workshop

This workshop is for the player and aspiring technician/luthier alike.

Setup is arguably the most important thing about an instrument. It doesn’t matter how beautiful an instrument is, nor how great it sounds. If it’s not setup right no one wants to play it! Examples of an instrument in need of set up includes high action, buzzing frets, wolf tones are just to name a few.

Setup is an art, it takes skill and knowing the instrument. There are many details one needs to understand for it to be setup correct. Setup preferences can also be different from player to player.

Since an active instrument needs a setup every 3 to 6 months, let the pros show you how its done and save money on your setup!

Basic Setup is for the instrument of your choice. (Guitars, ouds, violins) Includes:

  • Proper string removal

  • Safely cleaning fingerboard,

  • Cleaning frets and

  • Polishing instrument

  • Restringing.

  • Lubricating grooves on nut or saddle/bridge

  • Lubricating tuning machines

  • Minor basic adjustments

Advanced Setup is everything above including:

  • Adjustments to action.

  • Introduction to fretwork.

  • Fingerboard leveling and repair.

  • Nut and saddle modifications.

  • Soundpost adjustments (violin).

  • Neck/Truss rod adjustments
